North Atlantic States Carpenters Partners with Department of Labor on Veterans’ Employment and Training Program

Albany, NY  – The North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund (NASCTF) today announced a partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Services on a pilot program to enhance the Department’s ability to provide transitioning service members and their spouses with assistance to be successful in the civilian workforce.

NASCTF will specifically participate in the Department’s Employment Navigator and Partnership Pilot program where an installation at Fort Drum will be held and DOL Employment Navigators will help veterans and their spouses complete self-assessments, do skills testing, and explore career options like one in the construction industry.

“The NASCTF has a deep connection with our military brothers and sisters, and we know first hand the high level of leadership and work ethic that veterans and their spouses bring to their career is exactly what the construction industry needs to meet the rising demand for a skilled workforce,” said Assistant Executive Director Ziven Drake. “We are proud to partner with the Department of Labor to help transitioning service members and their spouses find meaningful, lasting careers in their communities.”

“Transition can be challenging, and the support from the North Atlantic States Carpenters Training Fund for our transitioning service members, and their spouses, makes it easier for them to chart their new course,” said James Rodriguez, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Operations and Management. “The work our partners with the Employment Navigator and Partnership Pilot do makes a difference and VETS is thankful for NASCTF’s contributions and impact, and we look forward to a continued partnership.”

Employment Navigator services are available to any transitioning service member or spouse, receiving Transition Assistance Program (TAP) services at a host installation. Information about eligibility for the program is available here, as well as information on the DOL’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service.
