NASRCC Supporting Massive Rail Project

The North Atlantic States Carpenters Union is backing a massive regional transportation project that would create thousands of jobs over a long period of time and facilitate economic expansion in multiple states. The North Atlantic Rail (NAR) is a proposed 21st century high performance passenger network linking Boston and New York City and all of New England’s mid-sized cities and parts of Long Island.

This proposal is being developed by the North Atlantic Rail Alliance, Inc., a broad-based alliance of government, civic, business and labor leaders from across the 7-state region. Build-out of the entire network is expected to take 20 years, but the identified early action projects can be advanced at the earliest stage of implementation.

In addition to construction of the system, the project will also spur related new vertical construction around stations and in surrounding communities. See maps of the project and appropriations request by state.
