NASRCC Scholarship 2021

Each year, the NASRCC awards scholarships to members in good standing and children of members in good standing who are enrolled in post high school education. Last year, over $90,000 was awarded in varying amounts to 135 qualified applicants.

Awards are funded by settlements with contractors and other contributions to help members with the ever-increasing costs of higher education. The program requires applicants to maintain a “C” average and complete an essay of between 500 and 1000 words.

Last year’s first prize winner was Jose Arsenault, son of Local 339 member Raymond Arsenault, followed by Dylan Reilly in second place. Brother Reilly is a member of Local 328 and is studying project management at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

This years essay topic requires applicants to examine the COVID-19 pandemic in America from the perspective of workers and unions by discussing the role unions have played during the pandemic, evaluating their success, and determine any lessons to be learnt from the Spanish Flu pandemic and its aftermath.

Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2021, and essays must meet the word count criteria.
