Andrick Wilkins

Born and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Andrick Wilkins says when he was a teenager, he didn’t have much ambition to carve a lucrative career path. While working as a busboy in a local restaurant and unsure of where he was going in life, his uncle suggested contacting the Carpenters union and inquire about the apprenticeship program.

“I’m thankful I listened to him because I’m about to graduate in a few weeks as a journeyman and in August, I’ll be graduating from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a degree in Construction Management. I’m very proud of how far I’ve come in the past four years and it’s all down to the opportunities I got in the Carpenters union.”

Wilkins who is a member of Local 327 says the Carpenters union is like his family, and is grateful for everything the union offers, including the excellent health insurance for him and his growing family. “Even as an apprentice to receive such good health insurance is a huge plus. It’s a worry off your mind,” he added.

Wilkins says he has built solid friendships with many of his union Brothers and Sisters and says the bond that everyone has in the union is something special.

“Joe Byrne took me under his wing from the beginning, encouraging me to perform 110% every day both on the job site and in life,” Wilkins said. “He is the best and I am thankful for his support and leadership throughout my journey.”
