Krystal Green

Krystal Green was given an opportunity to learn about carpentry and the union through a Job Funnel Program in Hartford, Connecticut, about five years ago. Has she taken advantage of it? She just graduated from the union’s apprentice program, earning the Golden Hammer award as outstanding apprentice.

Prior to that, she was named to the Executive Board for the New England Regional Council of Carpenters; the first female, first African-American, first apprentice and only the second rank-and-file member to serve on the Executive Board since NERCC was formed in 1996. She’s a Delegate and an active leader in the Connecticut “Sisters in the Brotherhood.”  Yeah, she’s taking advantage of her opportunities.

“I know I am valued as a carpenter because of all the goals I have accomplished, the work I do every day, and the recognition I’ve received from my determination.”
