This is the best paying job I've ever had.
Kelly Johnson is a member of Carpenters Local 326, although becoming a union carpenter was not the career path she expected to head down.
“This is not something I ever envisioned myself doing in life. I have a Bachelor’s Degree.”
Johnson graduated from college in the middle of the most recent economic recession and was pointed towards the Carpenters union, which boasted a career opportunity that not only offered employment in a down economy, it came with good pay and benefits. Johnson joined the Carpenters union as an apprentice and loves the work.
“This is the best paying job I’ve ever had, great benefits and I enjoy my work more than most other jobs I’ve ever had,” notes Johnson.
For Johnson, a highlight of working as an apprentice is “…learning new stuff every day.”
